Mr Bill Kinuthia
The Rapids Group CEO
Seventeen years ago, William (Bill) Kinuthia, World Sport Ministries Director Kenya, KDF Defensive Water Swims Trainer and the King of Watersports in Kenya, had a dream. He would create Africa’s largest, most exciting water wonderland, where everything met or exceeded international standards. It would be called, ‘Rapids Camp.’
He secured the ideal parcel of land, uniquely situated along the banks of River Sagana, adjacent to a spectacular waterfall. Bill then assembled a team of people who shared his passion for watersports, adventure and nature. And Rapids Camp went from strength to strength.
Rapids Camp has hosted guests from 155 countries, Foreign Embassies, International School kids, Church groups and Large Corporations. It is a member of Confederation of Africa Canoeing, The International Canoe and Rafting Federations. It has held trails for both the Rio 2015 Olympic Qualifiers and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games for Canoe Slalom. And is TripAdvisor’s 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 Travelers’ Choice Award winner, African Excellence Awards 2018 and 2019, Tourism Regulatory Authority Accreditation Award – Gold Quality Mark 2023.
Perhaps inevitably, Rapids Camp soon attracted the attention of some of the largest recreational investors in the world. So, Bill’s dream began to evolve. He visited a total of 23 countries seeking out “Best in Class’ recreational activities and infrastructure. Plans are now underway to construct the highest bungee jumping platform in Africa. The longest zip line in Africa, and a one-of-kind, sightseeing cable car from Base Camp to Crocodile Rock
And now Mr. Bill has come up with the Idea of starting of the first College of Adventure and Hospitality. The Rapids College of Professional Studies will create a niche high quality teaching standards in Culinary Arts, Adventure and Business Studies.
